What’s different about Rebalance's exercise approach?
Pilates is a method of core strengthening using mat-work and unique equipment developed by Joseph Pilates. There is a set repertoire of exercises that Pilates invented which constitutes 'pure Pilates'.
ReBalance incorporates the use of the Pilates repertoire and equipment but adds and adapts exercises based on current physiotherapy research. We also use extra pieces of equipment such as Swiss balls and the foam roller, which are not part of traditional Pilates.
In addition, we use a physiotherapy-based assessment to establish your starting point, identify your goals, and plan a program that is right for you.

How does it work?
You'll need to start with an initial assessment. This establishes your starting point and enables your physio to start planning a program for you.
After that, you will need to attend two orientation sessions. During these sessions, you will learn how to use the equipment and start to learn your program.
From there, you can join a small group class, or you can continue with one-on-one training. If you don’t have any significant injuries or health issues, you could also join one of our circuit classes.

Can I claim classes on my physiotherapy cover?
Yes, you can. In order to claim, you will need to have an initial assessment. This assessment will enable you to claim for 12 months. After that time has passed, if you wish to continue claiming, you will need to have a re-assessment to evaluate your progress.
Why do I need to attend an initial assessment for equipment-based exercise classes?
First, for safety. You need to know how to exercise on the equipment safely.
Second, you'll only get the full benefit from an exercise if you're performing it well. During your initial assessment, you will receive one-on-one instruction in good form and technique. This can make all the difference to whether your program is effective or not.
Many times we have seen people who have done 'core' exercise for years who are frustrated with their lack of progress. When we work with them, it turns out they have never been taught the basics properly and, in many cases, have actually been taught the wrong thing. Your initial assessment will help you get the most out of your equipment-based exercises.
